GCSE results mark a proud milestone for students at Thetford Academy

There was a buzz of anticipation at Thetford Academy this morning as students and their families gathered to receive the results of their hard work and dedication, with many achieving exceptional outcomes across a wide range of subjects.
This year, 59% of students secured a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, with 41% achieving grade 5 or higher.
Michael Fordham, Principal at Thetford Academy said:
“When this year group joined us in 2020, we were all wearing masks and unable to do many of the things we ordinarily would do as a school. But this year group rose to the challenge and have had an excellent five years with us, achieving this year our highest ever GCSE grades. It has been a particularly good year for maths, but also good to see the humanities making a strong contribution with a significant improvement in their results this year. We are very much looking forward to welcoming many students from here and further afield into the Sixth Form, and we know that those leaving us to begin college courses and apprenticeships will continue to go from strength to strength.”
This academic success follows a positive Ofsted inspection earlier this year, which confirmed that Thetford Academy continues to maintain its ‘Good’ rating. The inspection, carried out under section 8 of the Education Act 2005, found that the school has built on the strengths identified in its previous inspection in March 2020, where inspectors noted that pupils “feel valued and cared for.” The latest report highlights the school’s continued commitment to high standards, student wellbeing, and inclusive education.
Thetford Academy looks forward to building on this success in the coming academic year, continuing to nurture confident, capable, and compassionate young people.
