A Thetford sixth former has been recognised as one of the top chemists in the country by the Royal Society.

Sophie James won the accolade as part of the organisation's 51st Chemistry Olympiad, where she was pitted against some of the country's most able students in two written test papers.

The exams saw Sophie awarded a Bronze certificate.

"It's pretty cool and I think it will look really good on my CV as I intend to continue with chemistry at university."
