Thetford Academy Sixth Form is partnering with Norwich City Football Club to offer a new course next year.

Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF) has collaborated with Thetford Academy to offer the course to Year 12 and Year 13 students with aspirations to work in the sports industry. Students undertaking the two year course will study for a Cambridge National Extended Diploma in Sport - equivalent to three A levels.

Modules will include Anatomy and Physiology, and Sports Coaching and Psychology which will be led by Thetford Academy teaching staff. CSF will deliver the football aspect of the course with a teaching team that includes former Norwich City Football Club players.

Steve Bramble, Head of Curriculum, said: “After the success of our Norwich and East Norfolk programmes, we were keen to add a third offer in the west area of Norfolk. The partnership with Thetford Academy will allow more students to access a blend of first-class education alongside an outstanding football provision."

Similar courses have been successful across the county with students progressing on to university, professional football opportunities and overseas scholarships.

The announcement comes following Thetford Academy's successful bid for Sport England funding to develop the PE curriculum.
